RFET Test

RFET Test

RFET is sometimes expanded as remote field electromagnetic technique, although a magnetic, rather than electromagnetic field is used. An RFT probe is moved down the inside of a pipe and is able to detect inside and outside defects with approximately equal sensitivity (although it can not discriminate between the two).A version of ECT called Remote Field Eddy Current Testing (RFECT) is used for inspection of carbon steel tubing. RFECT is relatively slow compared to ECT with a inspection speed around 12 inches per sec. Ultrasonic IRIS is performed using a focused ultrasonic probe and a rotating mirror that produces a helical scan.
